Like every other pull-up workout I do, I did manage to get a blister up my hand… although this time I didn’t actually break during the workout so I had to do it once I got home.

As for the workout… it as just OK. As Jason was saying he really doesn’t like this one because its hard to scale and still be effective. However, since I suck at pull-ups I decided to do it anyway. On the upside I found out that I can do a strict pull, even if I can only do like 3 of them. Here is what I did…

RxD: 3 45# weighted, 5 strict, 7 kipping – 10 rounds

Ben: 3 strict/neg, 5 kipping, 7 jumping – 10 rounds

I started off the first round with 3 strict, 1 the 2nd round, and then jumping w/ negative for the rest. Kipping pull-ups rock, I was able to bust those out no prob. I think I over did myself on the jumping the first several rounds as I was jump up to the bar. For the last few rounds I actually got a box so I was already hanging from the bar for the jump which makes a big difference.

Even though I was the last to finish and almost gave up after round 8 (when my hand started to bubble up)… I took few extra sets and time, but did manage to push through and finish all 10 rounds.

But… hey, I can do a strict pull-up!!

Just an interesting way somebody mapped out this workout, mine doesn’t look quite so impressive…

That is 8 rows +7, the other guy had 20 rows +19… it was a lot of marks.

The first workout of the new year… and the first workout at the new location! The “morning crew” were the first to break in the new gym location:

Unfortunately I had to sub, as it was suppose to be a 45 plate and there was no way I was going to be able to do 105 pull-ups so I did jumping…. But it was still a good workout.

Now I just need to get my eating on track again, I didn’t get around to shopping/cooking/prepping any food last night so I will need to eat from the cafe but I am going be smart about it and get some grilled chicken instead of a butter chicken or something like that. I also did bring some protein powder in so I can start doing my shakes in between which will help. Tonight will be the trip to Nob Hill for some “family pack” chicken and time to fire up the grill…
